Oct. 7, 2011: 4-mile run twilight run around the neighborhood, chilly, and somewhat slow-going. I realized, as I was trying to push myself to get up to a decent pace during the last half mile, Slow & Steady (my nickname) may not win the race, but she does FINISH the race and is surely better off than those who never started.
Oct. 8, 2011: I happen to love the Nike Training Club app. It’s an iPhone app, but I use it on my iPad. So I did the new 15 minute “Fierce” workout by Laura Enever, the Australian pro surfer. It was fun. Then I did two more 15 minute workouts, “Ab Burner” and “Arm Definer.” 45 minutes total, and kept my body guessing.
Oct. 9, 2011: 5-mile early morning run on the bike path. Sunny and cool, I stayed upbeat the entire time, even without music. I try to be zen like that sometimes. I also figured out my new fitness goal!
Oct. 10, 2011: Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Burn DVD. Stretchy goodness.
Oct. 11, 2011: Hour long walk around the neighborhood, got back just before the skies opened for a twilight rainstorm.
Oct. 12, 2011: 45 minutes of kettlebell exercises: 25 minutes of Jillian Michaels’ Shred It with Weights and then, Women’s Health Magazine “Take Hold of a Great Bod” workout. Tough!
Oct. 13, 2011: Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred, level 2 workout. Just 20 minutes, but high quality.
Oct. 15, 2011: Woke up to the idea of exercising right away with this cute little cardio burst workout I found on Pinterest. I followed it a little later with Jillian Michaels’ No More Trouble Zones. I think I have a thing for Jillian Michaels.
Oct. 16, 2011: Same cardio burst workout as yesterday. Then level 3 of 30 Day Shred. Later, my sister and I went on an hour-long walk together via cell phone conversation.
Oct. 17, 2011: 30 minutes of Jillian Yoga Burn, level 2. Walk around the neighborhood with J and his parents’ dog for half an hour after work.
Oct. 18, 2011: Ran 5 miles on the bike path with hill repeats at the beginning and short intervals at the end. Perfect weather. Average pace: 9:27 per mile.
Oct. 19, 2011: Ran 4 miles in the rain and wind on the bike path. For three miles, the average pace was 8:27 per mile. The last mile killed me, though, with a combo of wearing glasses in the rain (I couldn’t see with or without them by the end), the wind was against me, and I left the hill for last (it’s a 2-3 minute hill). By the time I was done, the average pace was 9:24 per mile. Ugh.
Oct. 20, 2011: Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method: Yoga Warrior 15-minute yoga ab workout. Ouch!
Oct. 21, 2011: Another Jillian Michaels workout DVD, No More Trouble Zones. It says that it is a 40-minute workout, but with the warm up and cool down, it’s more like 55 minutes. Hits all wobbly bits, several times, with weights. It’s my go-to strength training workout. It kicks my butt.
Oct. 23, 2011: 20-minute cardio workout via Jillian, level II.
Oct. 24, 2011: Almost an hour of kettle bells by doing both the 25- and 30-minute workouts on Shred It with Weights. Felt hot and awesome afterward.
Oct. 25, 2011: 20-minute cardio workout via Jillian, level III.
Oct. 26, 2011: Went on a another hour long walk “with” my sister, on the phone. It’s not as intense as my other workouts, but it’s so much more uplifting and inspiring.
Oct. 27, 2011: Yoga Booty Ballet: Goddess Booty workout. Sounds ridiculous; however, it’s a really fun, less intense workout that definitely burns my buns.
Oct. 28, 2011: 30-minute kettle bell workout.
Oct. 30, 2011: Visited my parents and went on a REAL 45-minute walk with our adorable two dogs and my sister, D.
